Detailed travel Itinerary
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, I receive you with private vehicle and transfer to home stay in Kathmandu located near by Thamel. Then I will give you an information about further programs. As upon your request, we go to short walk around old city area.
All aspects of gear and conditions are discussed to make sure you're fully prepared for the trip. After lunch we explore this medieval capital city Kathmandu. Being a professional and licensed holder guide, I will take you for full day sightseeing such as Boudhanath stupa, also known as little Tibet. Then we visit Pasupatinath, holy temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Hindu where cremation takes place by the holy river Bagmati. Later we visit Swayambhunath stupa known as monkey temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square the city of glory where you can explore living goddess. And transfer to home stay.
Very early morning, I will come to pick you in your hotel, we drive together to domestic terminal hall. Check the flight and fly together to Lukla 2886m. The flight is adventures and can be flying between the big rocks and mountains; It’s a bit adventure but offers scenic mountain views. After landing, I will take you to the nice hotel, where you can have nice breakfast and meet up with your Sherpa porters for your luggage transfer to the Himalaya. After fixing everything, we move further to Bengkar village (2740 m.) where we can stay for overnights. During the day excursion, we pass several villages such as Kusum, Ghat, Phakding, Tok tok and on the right side, you will have amazing close up view of Kusum Kanguru and Thamserku. Leaving your all stuffs into your room, you might either hike about 60 meter up to Pine forest hill or walk further to Monju and descend to stay overnight which could be a great options to be acclimatize.
Having breakfast, we commence our trek along the right bank of Dudh Koshi River. Thamserku is standing majestically skyward on the opposite bank. The trail now climbs from the riverbed on the left bank into the tiny village Monjo. We then come to Sagarmatha National Park entrance office. No worry to organize, I will check the entrance and paying all, we follow a short walk along the riverbed of this shaped valley where Dudh Koshi from the right valley and Bhote koshi from the left valley can be meet each other. We cross Hillary Bridge which is famous in this region, immediately we begin steep ascent to Namche Bazar (3440 M). On the way, we would have excellent first views of Mt.Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m.) and world’s most beautiful mountain Amadablam. Surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges, Namche Bazar (3440m) is a central hub of the area for food, trekking gears and other necessary goods. Namche Bazaar (3440 m.) considered as an ideal place for acclimatization to the high altitude before heading towards Tengboche Monastery. We go up to Khhumjung monastery. It is a small settlement of Sherpa community. We enjoy the splendid view of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawche, Kwangde and so on from here. While returning to Namche, we would visit Museum located at above on the hill station which exhibits Sherpa lifestyles.
After having, we continue our trekking to Dole by following the same route to Base camp until Sanasa then trail ascends up to Mongla (4000m.). Mong la hill station offers an excellent view of various snow capped mountains. You trek steeply descend passing through Phortse Tenga and from there, the trail climbs steeply to Dole, through Rhododendron and Birch forest.
From Dole we will climb steadily along the side of the valley, where the small and thorny bushes give way to scrub juniper as the altitude increases. The trail passes many summer settlements, which are used when yaks are taken to these pastures to graze in the summer months. Ahead of you are excellent views of Cho Oyu, while back down the valley are the peaks of Kantega and Thamserku.
Today, we head for the alpine lakes at Gokyo. We follow a very scenic path to Pangka and then descend slightly, following one of the melt-water Rivers which flow down the west side of the Ngozumpa Glacier. we climb a steep rocky inclined into the valley by the side of the glacier, passing the first of the holy lakes, soon arrive at the second lake, crossing the path which heads across the glacier to Cho La (5420m.). The third lake is known as Dudh Pokhari will appear and on its eastern shore is the settlement of Gokyo village. Walking by the side of the lake, we will arrive at Gokyo village.
We spend another day in Gokyo to acclimatize to the high altitude. If the weather is good, we climb Gokyo Ri today. From the top of Gokyo Ri we admire the Himalayan vista and the tranquil Gokyo lakes. We also hike to the fourth and the fifth Gokyo lakes. The 4th lake is only about 3km north of Gokyo. It is marked by high cliffs and Himalayan peaks rising above it. We continue to walking a little further and reach the 5th lake. A climb up a nearby hill will guarantee us remarkable views of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu. We can see a lot more from here - the spot is called Scoundrel's Viewpoint. From the northern part of the 5th lake we see the Cho Oyu base camp and Ngazumpa Glacier which is the biggest glacier the world. We walk back to Gokyo to spend the night.
We descend on a trail along the Dudh Koshi River and pass the first Gokyo lakes. On the way we also enjoy views of the Cholatse and Taboche peaks. Our trail descends before climbing a hill. After reaching the chorten at the edge, we see great views of Thamserku, Cho Oyu, and Kangtega mountains. We walk past Machhermo, Luza and Lhafarma villages before reaching Dole. Overnight in Dole.
We descend on a steep trail to Phortse Thanga admiring rhododendrons, wildflowers and waterfalls. We also come across mountain goats, musk deer, pheasants, etc. From Mong, we can admire a good view of Khumbila peak. On our way to Namche the view of Taboche, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kangtega mountains are ours to admire. After walking for a while, we reach an intersection where the trail from Sanasa meets our trail. We walk on a trail that clings to a forested slope beyond Kyangjuma, winding through several bends. After reaching Namche army camp hill, we look back to see Lhotse, the tip of Everest and Tengboche for one last time. About a kilometer from here is Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar..
We descend on a rocky trail and cross several suspension bridges before walking on a leveled trail. The air is warmer as we walk on the same trail to reach Lukla. Our trek in the mountain ends after we reach Lukla. We spend our time reminiscing about our time spent in the mountain. Since Lukla is a small city in the mountain region there is facility of bank too. A small hydro power station supplies electricity for the whole city here. Telephone, mobile and internet services are available here. Also bakery and café are here to enjoy western meals. Overnight in Lukla.
We board our early flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at TIA. We drive together until your hotel. As soon as you are in the hotel in Thamel, the rest of teh day, you might go for shopping or visiting to Garden of Dreams to have relax on yourself.
